Robin Creyke is a long-standing teacher at The Australian National University. Her current teaching interests are in the public law sphere, particularly administrative law and military law. Robin's research interests are catholic in administrative law terms - although she has a specialty interest in administrative tribunals, an area in which she has both a practical and an academic interest, having been a member of a number of both Commonwealth and private law tribunals.
In conjunction with other administrative law colleagues she has also undertaken seminal empirical research into the impact of judicial review cases - both within government and also for successful applicants and their lawyers.
She had a wider interest in regulation and administrative law when she was a Commissioner of the ACT's Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission. She was the Integrity Advisor to the Australian Taxation Office and is a member of the Administrative Law Committee of the Law Council of Australia.
Robin was a member of the Administrative Review Council, the body which kept a watching brief on the Commonwealth's administrative law system.
She has been involved in Military Law for several years, as a Butterworths veterans' affairs editor for its Administrative Law Service since 1985 and teacher in the Military Law program at ANU Law. She was co-Director of that program until 2006. Her expertise in that area lead her, with Peter Sutherland, to write the first text in this area - Veterans' Entitlements Law (2000) now in it's 3rd edition, published in 2016. Robin is also a co-author of Laying Down the Law (9th edn, 2015) the most widely used introductory text for law students. With John McMillan in 2015 she completed the 4th edition of Control of Government Action - the most widely used Administrative Law text in Australian universities.
She is embarking on a new book on Defence Law in Australia with Peter Sutherland (Visiting Fellow at ANU Law) and Associate Professor Dale Stephens (University of Adelaide).
